Function of the Tribunal

The Community Living Areas Tribunal is a statutory body originally established under the Crown Lands Act and retained under Section 93(1) of the Pastoral Land Act.

 

The functions of the Tribunal are :

  • to determine whether the applicant is entitled to make the application; and if so,
  • to consider the application;
  • to make recommendations as soon as practicable to the Minister as to whether the land should be acquired by the Territory and granted or transferred in fee simple for the benefit of the applicant; and
  • such other functions as are imposed on it by or under the Act.
